On November 4-5, 2010, INSIC sponsored its fourth Tape Technology Forum in Tokyo, Japan, which was attended by more than 100 invited participants representing 31 organizations from three continents, successfully demonstrating the continued vitality of magnetic tape storage technology and products.
The two-day Tape Technology Forum IV was held in conjunction with the Fall 2010 Quarterly Technical Review of INSIC’s TAPE Research Program, and was hosted by FUJIFILM Corporation at its Headquarters in Tokyo Midtown.
The Forum sessions included 20 presentations on topics ranging from Tape Drive & Media Mechanics and The Head-Media Interface to User & Market Perspectives and Technologies for Future HDD Magnetic Recording, along with a welcome from Norio Shibata, General Manager of FUJIFILM’s Recording Media Product Division. A copy of the Tape Technology Forum IV Agenda can be found by clicking here. Copies of the individual presentations are available to TAPE Program Sponsor companies and participating University researchers.
INSIC wishes to again thank all of the presenters for their most interesting contributions to the Forum, as well as FUJIFILM for their outstanding hosting of the event. We look forward to the next Tape Technology Forum in Tokyo, tentatively scheduled for Spring 2012.
